Credit has to go to Aaron for bowling well in the end overs today but if young bowlers think they can just run up-to the crease like a medium pacer and consistently bowl 90mph in test cricket good luck to them. I have only seen the great Ambrose do that. I just hope that Aaron and co. won't suffer from stress fractures on their backs.

Hopefully today has made it clear to Dhoni and Co that playing 2 seamers will not work in Australia! :angry

Seriously, what the hell are they thinking with this team ... and Zak, Umesh and Irfan are just sat on the sidelines :stupid

Jadeja was absoluelt awful today, but I assume that was just because he was up all night counting his IPL money. If we can get him back to bowling properly, then he should play. In Aus we should then be thinking about 4 seamers (Praveen, Irfan, Zak and Umesh would have been my choice at the start of the series, but Vinay has done well - we need Irfan's batting) or 3 seamers and a spinner (Ashwin was uselss today, but he probably edges it over Sharma ... if Ashwin doesn't improve then maybe Bhaji will come back in).

Wouldn't play Umesh ahead of Vinay on current form. Wet ball meant we struggled after rain.

Zak, PK, Pathan, Vinay, Rahul Sharma would be my choice on form but Pathan's batting has regressed.

you'd drop Jadeja and Ashwin?

my only concern with that pace attack is lack of pace - Umesh would be a risk, but I think we will need him if we are going to do well in the WC in Aus

Yes, next ODI is at Perth I think. Ashwin is bowling way too short. Pathan offers more than Jadeja on these pitches.

Hmm maybe. Seems Zak might be injured so he could play instead.

It's a long long competition so I expect a couple changes every match.

Resting a player for a Test to protect them for ODIs is a bad idea. ODIs matter far less than Tests.
Ian Bell: first England player to 10,000 Test runs.
Stuart Broad: first England player to 400 test wickets.

there is already a thread CF, so I've merged your post.

As for the team, see my earlier comments about what daft idea it is to try and have only 2 seamers for ODI's outside the sub continent. Even in India, we have played with 3 seamers - so why anybody thinks Aus is a good place to try 2 spinners is beyond me. Given next WC is in Aus, it seems even more dubious. I'd argue we may be better off with 4 - anyway 3 or 4 out of Zak, Umesh, Irfan, Aaron, PK, Munaf ... and Vinay is making a case at the moment as well.

also, given that he will hopefully be back soon - you are dropping Yuvi?
