11.00am start
TODAY'S GAME WAS AN EARLY STARTER FOR A FRIENDLY, BUT WAS AGREED DURING THE WEEK BY ME AND THE OTHER SIDE'S CAPTAIN
This is the team i chose
1.T.Hunt-
2.J.Jackson
3.G.Hope
4.I.Barstable
5.G.Jackson
6.C.Easter
7.CAPTAIN CF (C)
8.N.Maynard (wk)
9.J.Long
10.S.Mckenzie
11.H.Connor
I made one change to the side, with Mckenzie the left arm spinner coming in for the offie..
i also promoted myself to 7 in the batting order, and dropped Maynard down to 8.
We won
I won the toss and chose to bowl on a pitch that was tinged with green due to rain this week, but also you could score runs if you applied yourself. I took the new ball but i also opened from the other end with Mckenzie...an odd move i know, but i thought i would change it up in this game. The move worked, i gave Mckenzie 5 overs in his first spell with the new ball, he took 2-16 from 5 overs. I bowled 7 in my first spell, and was wicketless but only conceded 14 runs...so from 12 overs, the oppoistion were 30-2, there were 2 byes in them first 12 overs...we had them in a bit of trouble. We continued to take wickets, until there no8 came in and started playing some shots....he made a quickfire 30 before falling to me
i finished with figures of 2-32 from my 10 overs, my final 3 overs proved a tad expensiive but i picked up a couple of wickets so was happy with that....we had bowled them out for 145...
It should have been routine, however we were 2 down inside 3 overs...they had a fast bowler, who was swining the ball at genuine pace and in his first spell was virtually unplayable....after 25 overs we had got to 95-3, so we had re-grouped. Hope and Jackson put together a good partnership before Jackson fell with only 15 runs required..Easter came out and smashed the runs quickly and we finished the game with 11 overs to spare. Tricky chase a lot of work needed but a win's a win at the end of the day
im happy with the win, but with our first league game starting next week, a lot of improvement is needed.
