The enigma that is Kevin Pietersen

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

Erm, no. Where have I said that?

If you're comparing this to the ECB source story then there a key differance:

The Press up front named the ECB as their source with regards to the leak whereas the Daily Mail named no source for their comments about KP making negitive comments about other players and coaches and the only source they do offer actually rebuffs this claim.

Who? Moosajee? He didn't "rebuff" anything, merely tried to play it down.

He said nothing to validate the claim did he, in fact he described it as nothing but friendly banter.

The entire article is set up as a syllogism and designed to make people follow the path by including what should be a footnote in the text:

1) KP texted the South Africans - True confirmed by a named source
2) KP made comments about dressing room politics in the past - True confirmed by a video press conferance
3) KP made negitive comments about England players in texts to the South Africans - Supported by nothing in the article and even the Daily Mail can't hide this by just saying that it was "reportedly" so with out saying where this came from.

Now when someone actually comes forward with support for claim 3 then the article holds some merit until then it is nothing but unsubstantiated print.

What is the named source of the ECB leak? I must have missed that.

With out being deliberately patronising Hope: The Press said their information came from the ECB - That is a source, a named source because they said specifically where it came from.

The Daily Mail provides no source at all for their claims as detailed above.

I'm sure you're capable of reading the article and seeing this.

Anyway, I'm off for a meeting for the rest of the afternoon, hopefully there will be some more substantiated story - It woudn't be hard - on this when I get home this evening.

I see from KP's A/C on twitter that he doesn't follow the likes of JA, Broad, Swann and co. anymore. He still follows Finn, Bops and Morgan.

Oh, good grief, why should anybody care? This is beginning to resemble a particularly bad episode of a very poor soap opera with an excitable prima donna in the main role falling out or making friend with the other characters.

Whatever Pietersen does, the world will move on.

Has there ever been so much ado about nothing?

Interesting that @ECB_cricket are not putting anyone up for interview when Lords squad is announced. Normally Geoff Miller is available

When you compare the paths followed by D'Oliveira and KP, and the incredible courage and dignity of the former, is it any wonder that the likes of old-timers like myself are thoroughly fed-up with this nonsense?

Good point, well made, KJ. There was a player dealing with true adversity and now remembered for all the right reasons.

So Pietersen capitulates, 100% surrender.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cricket/19229566

This is a remarkablee turn-around from the man we heard lastmonday.

He said he was returning "unconditionally" to one-day and Twenty20 internationals, and contrary to recent reports was not insisting on playing the full Indian Premier League (IPL) season next year, which would mean missing Test matches.

"I'm not going anywhere," he said. "I want to make myself available for selection for every single form of cricket for England, because I love playing for England.

"Money's not everything to me. Sportsmen have short careers - I can't do this until I'm 50 or 55 - and I'm a provider for a young family.

"But I love winning for England. I can't wait to play in Straussy's [skipper Andrew Strauss's] 100th Test next week. "
