So because you're not interested in it you can't appreciate the fact that other management groups can defuse vastly more complicated and dramatic situations?

I'm well aware of the Tavez saga and how it was dealt with. As I understand it they would have got rid of him if they could but were unable to. Eventually the economics of the situation and the need of goal scorer changed the dynamics of the situation. Not great man management at all just plain pragmatism.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

The fact of the matter is that the management managed to resolve a very difficult situation and get the player back into the side and even more impressively playing well as part of the team.

Now why should the way the KP situation has been dealt with be acceptable? It should be down right worrying the way this has all exploded, regardless of what you think about KP.

While I agree with Splinters/Sussex/Greyblazer, have little new to add....

Except! Is it not possible for the ECB to have stood up to the Daily Mail here. The role of the press in this story has been questionable. Many are criticising the 'timing' of this melodrama. But it is the Daily Mail who is blowing up this nebulous media cloud. The ECB had an option here to defend their player, and criticise the press. Potentially uniting the team against a common enemy of the players.

Instead they have put KP on the spot (again) about private messages that have nothing to do with the Daily Mail. Once again, the ECB has put KP under the magnifying glass, and then reported themselves concerned when he has started to smoke.

Not saying there aren't other ways of looking at this. But I've not heard anyone being that critical of the press in this. Although Selvey's pro Flower/ECB views haven't gone down that well in the Guardian.

And I'm wondering about phone hacking?

:hi But I'm usually anti-press I guess.

Funny the press didn't reveal the players and person associated with the parody KP account either despite knowing.

Or how they've been systematically trying to write the "ECB" leaks out of history, things got truly bizzare when Selvey was actually goaded into talking about them.

Piers Morgan blows the lid on what the press know anyway.
@piersmorgan: I wonder if @Bailsthebadger knows anything about that KP parody account? He is, after all, close pals with several top England cricketers...

And the guy has apologised, he's friends with Broad/Hales.

@Bailsthebadger: Yes the parody was me. It was for humour purposes only and as soon as I realised it was upsetting people i took it down.

@Bailsthebadger: No professional cricketers were involved in it. I apologise if I upset anyone. It's not the business I'm in.

@Bailsthebadger: I would also like to apologise to anyone I know involved with England Cricket who I may have put in an awkward or embarrassing position.

The latest conspiracy theory I'm hearing is that KP was telling Steyn about Strauss' weaknesses and how to dismiss him.

Well, looking at Strauss' record against SA of late, I'd say that they already know a thing or two.
These conspiracy theorists need to learn. They could have come up with something a bit more realistic, if they tried.

Yes, yourself and Shanky have made some good points. And Walrus and Adi on the other side. Though some of the pro ECB posts seem to be strongly fuelled by a personal dislike of KP. Have just read about 20 pages of this(!) having been away, and a lot of it has been quite interesting.

Do we know who was posting the KP parody? Have to say the reporting on this leaves a bitter taste. A lot of it seems mischief making with potentially ruinous consequences. The ECB leaks seem to be the most serious factor, yet the press is mostly ignoring them.

Well yeah I knew earlier today when I read this: http://j.mp/MXmx7q

He can say no cricketer was involved but Broad tweeted this: http://yfrog.com/obi0ihtj on the day the account was set up.

Oh well, enjoy the Bangladesh Premier League, KP.

It runs out in three weeks anyway

Exactly, which is why I strongly doubt it is his own personal greed and more a case of stubbornness.

Interesting he chose to pick on Strauss, I can't really see any reason for him to do so. I very much doubt Strauss has any major influence with the suits at Lord's (Flower probably does more so) and he isn't even in the One Day set-up anymore.

It's a well known fact he is friends with several England cricketers, however it doesn't automatically follow they had anything to do with the Twitter account. I have friends, they don't have any influence on my Twitter activities.
