if hes learned anything he wont

but alot might depend on whats said between now and then about his future within the england setup , if hes basically told that he doesn't have one regardless of any contrition he has shown then you could see some fireworks

Selvey said on twitter that this deal was in place when KP originally retired from ODIs.

I thought that KP might not be offered a contract at the same time as others but provided he was able to resolve his problems with the team and ECB he would get one later, hopefully in time to join the squad for India. Accepting this role as pundit will just muddy the waters further and make the ECB wonder just how trustful his wish to be an England player is.

why tho as other england players have worked as pundits when not in a squad or when they have been out injured, i thought alot of this situation was all about treating everyone the same ;)

and as ddb has suggested above this agreement has been in place since he was told he was out of consideration for t20s months ago

Didn't KP do a bit of punditry for Sky last year?

I can't remember other contracted players acting as pundits on cricket when not playing, they may have given interviews and commented on a game that way. They were certainly not in the sort of dispute with England that Pietersen is in.

well tbh when it comes to pietersen you do tend to have selective amnesia so i am not really surprised

you will always assume the worst regardless

Cant see any problem with him commentating if hes not playing. Not very different from Prior and Anderson writing columns when they are playing, is it?

Stuart Broad did commentary on TMS. Can't remember the series.

KP will of course say things without thinking unlike a paper column. This could make for good viewing.

That' totally untrue, I appear to be anti KP because I put forward a case to balance the many on here who see the situation as "Pietersen right or wrong'. I would dearly love to see this situation end with KP back playing cricket for England.

as i said above ginger i think it will depend on what happens at the "peace summit" on sunday and what he is told about his future

if he is told he has one but needs to keep his nose clean and show he can be trusted then the ball would be back in his court to show he is prepared to do what it takes to get back in the squad/s

if he is told the situation is past the point of no return then he might not be quite so willing to bite his tongue

Excellent viewing. Im up for it.

So the principle of him commentating is OK but the worry is KP is daft?

australia 3rd test after hed strained his side IIRC.

The problem is that other players that have gone on to commentate havent had such an acrimoniuous departure from the squad, or they've been retired for a few months.
