The enigma that is Kevin Pietersen

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

The texts may now be seen as trivial but without them England would not have dropped Pietersen. Instead they would have had to pursue a more discreet way to discipline their most infuriating and best batsman.

One wonders whether they now think it was all worthwhile

ECB now disengaging from the responsibility of their behaviour, seek to blame the South Africans.

I know I had said I'd left this thread but if there is a word of truth in that article then the ECB and England have been played for complete fools from day one.

Very sceptical about that however as seeing there is no record of what was said to whom the only person who could have thrown any light on it would have been the man with his head on the chopping block, drowning men and straws springs to mind.

I do wish the ECB would just let the water run under the bridge now, they've made their decision about how to move forward so how about just getting on with it!

My view is that it is disingenuous of the ECB to suggest that they were played, when they used the texts as leverage in their ongoing dispute with Pietersen. Having got what they wanted, this seems to be them writing their motives out of the story.

The more that comes out, the more that it seems there was a personal agenda here.

I personally have lost a lot of respect with the cricketing media over this issue, Selvey's article is pretty baseless, vague and stupid. Can be indicative of most of the article wrote on the matter.

Correct me if I am wrong, but all KP has said on the matter of the texts is that it was banter between friends and the messages were not derogatory... something the ECB have had to accept....

I dont see anything in the link which suggests that KP was blaming the South Africans.... please explain why this has anything to do with him?

Wonder why the ECB would ask him to do that? Surely if KP feels like he has been defamed, as his employer, the ECB would benefit by his name being cleared?

I was going to say they just want it all to stop. But then Collier opened his trap.

Maybe such a court case would open the ECB doors to scrutiny they didnt want either
