Yes. His receiving a a contract does not alter that. The humiliation of the ECB is now complete and it seems Pietersen will be around to poison the atmosphere in the changing room for a little while yet.

Indeed, terrible shame.

I see Lawrence Booth has used his position as editor of Wisden to lay into KP again.

Old ground, perhaps, but none the less perceptive for that. Some criticism for the ECB too. As things turned out, Pietersen and the ECB probably deserve each other.

Astute from Booth to drum up a little free publicity for the new edition.

Maybe the article holds the ECB up to account as well. Otherwise the piece is pointless. Hard to see that any fair person would only find against KP, even if they felt he was partly culpable.

I just found it a bit pathetic and a sign of booth's personal stance on pietersen that he has a go at him regarding the IPL basically on the same day the chairman of the ECB is meant to be having talks to see if there is any way to make some compromise with the BCCI re the timing of the IPL to avoid further issues down the road with its impact on the start of the English season

a lot more players than KP have been shown to have concerns over missing out on the IPL

Quite true. The ECB let him back in again.

KP is now going to miss the New Zealand series due to his knee injury.

Hopefully he will be fit by the time the Ashes begin.
