anyone got any players playing this week that they are not selecting - for a short-term swap?

Alternatively, seeing as there are lots of swaps going on - can I swap in players that are on the available list?

You are free to swap players with other teams RD, but the available list is only for Sunday bids after Friday releases.

Ian, not sure it'll make much difference - but what is the logic of that? Short-term swaps were allowed last week so that people could put out a full team using players that other posters were not using, and the available list is, by definition, players that other posters are not using. It just seems a bit arbitrary to allow one and not the other, unless I'm missing something in my logic.

RD, my logic went something like:

Short term swaps are mutually agreed between managers, whereas allowing picks from the unallocated pool would need a system putting in place to allow fairness in choice for everyone.

Isn't that a bit like when someone picked the wrong Leach - technically it should not have been changed (and he was the next player I would have bid for from the availables) but it seemed like the right thing to do to allow the swap and hence nobody objected.

On the same basis, I missed the deadline to release players this week and was happy to wait until next week as should technically be the case - but seeing as I can't even get a team out this week it seems difficult to see why anyone would object to allowing the release to take place since no-one else has bid for any of those players. Of course if anyone has any strong objections for a reason I have missed then they have most of the day today to say so

That seems fair enough to me RD.

Post which players you would like to take on a short-term swap from the pool, and if no one has an objection you can pick them in your team. Obviously, the same goes for other managers.

If 2 or more teams select the same player, then we will need to draw virtual short straws!

Ian - i was referring to allowing the release despite the technicality of asking for my release on Sat morning rather than Fri night, as opposed to establishing a new process for short term swaps - that's just adding extra layers of complexity! Like I said though, if anyone has any reason for a strong objection then they can say so and I'll just play short of a full team or rely on other posters to lend me players

Knowing your track record in FLs, it wouldn't surprise me if you ended up with the team of the week!

If there are no objections then, by say 6pm, then I'll release Rayner and pick someone from the available list - will have to take a look and see who is available after 6 and then select my team.

Seeing as though it seems to now be fair game, then yes, anyone not selected in my XI or reserves can be swapped for one week only.

I do want to go on record now though - and this isn't directed at you Red, so please don't feel offended - and say that I completely disagree with this short term loaning. I for one would support Ian should he decide to ban it. You build up a SQUAD for a reason. If someone builds up a squad that doesn't cover a range of teams, and they also don't look ahead to the upcoming fixtures when deciding on their two free picks, well then that's their problem. Sorry to be frank about it.

Say someone has five Warwickshire players in their squad. Well when Warks play, and play well, that person is most likely going to benefit greatly. And fair play to them. But you have chosen to have five Warks players. No-one made you. The reason you have them is presumably because they're such a talented squad. That's completely fine with me, but when Warks don't play, I don't believe that person should be helped out. It's the downside to your strategy, and you should have to live with it.

I have purposely tried to avoid having more than 2 players per county, for this exact reason. I don't want to have weeks where I'm short on players because certain counties don't play. Seems a rather pointless strategy though if we can just loan.

PS. I for one have no issues with you releasing Raynor and signing someone else Red, just because you missed the deadline.

I think we need to continue will the loans for the first half of the season (up to the end of Matchweek 9 on June 15th) then we can reconsider from there, based on the overall consensus.

My personal view is that managers should be allowed to loan players to other teams, but do not have to. For instance, it might be beneficial for someone currently in 2nd/3rd place to loan players to a mid-table team for a match against the leaders?

At the midway point of this inaugural CFM I will be posting my thoughts on changes for both the second half of this season and any future season.

For next season I already have some ideas on the allocation of initial squads: managers will have a lot more money to spend meaning the majority of players should be decided by choice through bidding rather than luck through lottery. Squad sizes will also be increased further so that managers should be able to field full sides in most matchweeks.

Please feel free to add any suggestions. The game will work best if people are happy with how it is being run.
