It's not always right but there is a difference between a sportsman and a 'ordinary' bloke, both on (definitely) and off the field. Of course if Root had wanted, Warner could have been done for GBH or whatever.

The importance of that player to the team? Like you say, if I would have punched a man from a competitor, then my days would be numbered, but in sport it seems to be different. Not saying it's right, just seems that way, like KP getting special treatment for slagging off his captain.
