he should try and get a stint with one of the counties at the start of the summer, that might really help him get into the Ind side for the Eng tour

Unless he's been playing club cricket here in the last few years, he won't qualify. Needs to have played a certain amount of internationals to meet the overseas player requirements.

Still plenty of time to break into the team ahead of the WC tbh, especially given our bowling stocks. Won't be surprised if he's in the mix for the WT20.

well, if Binny doesn't make a case in NZ then you'd think that they'd have to look elsewhere

for the Aus WC i think maybe S Dhawan, Rohit, Chet, Kohli, Rayudu / Raina, Dhoni, Jadeja, R Dhawan, Bhuvi, Shami, Aaron

Yadav, Zak, Pandey all in the mix for the bowling slots too

yuvi could still play a part, I expect he'll play the T20 in Eng so it may give him a platform to make his case again.

Yuvi? Sorry, I just don't see it. I was very excited about him coming back but it just hasn't worked out and even in his prime, he was never too hot on pitches with pace and bounce. Clearly, he's not the man for a WC in Australia. Time to move on I think. T20 performances shouldn't really matter for ODI selection in this case cus his international T20 form has still been very good of late (he has scored 72 off 36 and 77* off 35 in his last T20I outings). Its ODIs where he has been struggling despite good T20I form, so I'm not too sure what doing well in domestic T20 would prove. He really needed to do well in SA, got only 1 innings in fairness but his mode of dismissals (more so than his low scores), not just in that innings but throughout his comeback, especially vs Mitch in India on flat pitches, don't really inspire much confidence. I guess you could argue he should've been picked for one more series in NZ as he got only 1 inning in SA but they've taken a call on him (which is the right one IMO) and they now need to stick to it at least till the 2015 WC.

Should still be an integral part of the World T20 squad though, in Bangladesh, in a couple of months' time but that shouldn't have a bearing on his ODI selection IMO for the reasons stated above. Much like Raina really - both should be assets in a T20 tournament in the subcontinent but clearly not the right horses for a WC in Australia although knowing Dhoni, Raina is likely to be persisted with upto the point until it becomes farcical.

He's at 5 in Red's XI, isn't he? Anyways, I don't think he'd be out of place at 4 in ODIs but personally I'd prefer him at 5, as if he bats at 4, we'd have to pick Raina at 5.

Binny went to the ICL and the ICL players got few years ban.So that time was lost for Binny.Ambati too lost few years having played in the ICL.

My clubmate who once played against Binny told me that Binny is a very hard hitter. He hit one so hard that he did not make an attempt to stop the ball. Also, Binny hit flat sixer against a spinner when Binny was around 16 years of age.He did mention that he had potential to represent India and even though he bowls only few overs, he can be an option for out of form Raina who also bowls approx 3 overs on average.Plus he has the striking ability.I agree with my clubmate that Binny should be given a chance instead of the failing Raina atleast in this series. He also feels that Stuart Binny is a better cricketer than Roger Binny.

Agree. Personally wouldn't have Rahane anywhere near the ODI Setup ATM. Rohit, Rayudu and Dhawan all under the scanner but could be given a few more chances.

Won't have Ashwin either. Jadeja, Mishra, Bhajji all ahead of him. Would even prefer a few of the youngsters over Ashwin in ODIs. Would play 2 spinners personally. The pitches in Oz for the Eng series recently were slow and dry.

Dhoni again shows that as far as bowling attack is concerned he has little faith in young pace bowlers. On South Africa and now in NZL for test series, Zak and Ishant have been opted for.
