Marcus North is the lbw candidate of the century!! Seriously going backwards there. As for Doug the Rug, I would have thought a fit Doug would at least be in the squad. I was never impressed with Hazlewood anyway, even when his stock was high in the Under -19 world cup team. Looked like a bit of a trundler to me, the typical build that succeeds at youth level simply because of his body size.

Did you really say Phil Hughes... as in, really?

That reminds me of a certain Indian "fast" bowler who has taken 149 wickets in 53 Tests at an average of 38.

Luke Pomersbach has been selected to play in the PM's XI match.

Now that Chris Lynn has been ruled out of the PM's XI with injury (bad luck to him, as he may have a sizable future with some type of Australian side), fellow Qbilly Ben (son of Craig, brother of Alister) McDermott has been called into the squad.

McDermott has been in the U19 Aus team and is in the Brisbane Heat squad, without actually playing). He is "a promising batsman" and a 'keeper, but Handscomb will be filling that role.

Surely he is a ranga, and another one in any Aus team has got to be a good thing.

Chris Lynn looks like an excellent prospect... even if h does look like Beaker from the Muppets. He has a fc average of 43, and is the current leader in the BBL for 6's. :o At 23, time is on his side.

Bailey axed from the Aussie squad for SA. I wonder if he has refused to play under Clarke. Or if Clarke is refusing to carry on with Bailey in the team, and Lehmann has backed him? No Man With Three names either. Which makes me wonder if there is a problem developing with Australia unable to bring new talent through. Things really change around quickly.

Listen here, Walter Mitty, you can just go back to your pontifications about the England team. We don't need any of your imaginings, thankyou.

I'll have you know, most of the Australian squad are regular readers of this forum - and Twatto and Warner get it read out to them, as well, in the true Ricky Ponting manner - we don't need you upsetting the ranks.

However, while I understand the selectors losing patience with Bailey, replacing him with S Marsh, I don't understand. He is averaging 31 this Shield season, even (not so)Steady Eddie Cowan is doing a full 10 runs better. Just what has Marsh done to warrant selection, I wonder.

I know he is getting old, but Voges is continually hard done by the Aus selectors, imo.

it was in the Daily Mail...

Voges can't be as old as Haddin, surely.

Marsh is a fast bowling specialist says Inverarity. Apparently he struggles against spin though, so it seems a tour specific selection.

No, he's a couple of years younger, but Haddin has the benefit of plenty of test experience behind him, whereas Voges may need a traditional settling period - like what Bailey used and didn't take advantage of.

Marsh is a Wozzie, as is Inverarity. Too early to claim bias/conspiracy?

There has always been someone who misses out in Oz cricket; Brad Hodge, Stuart Law, Brad Hodge, Martin Love, Brad Hodge, David Hussey and Brad Hodge! I think Adam Voges is a fine cricketer, but similar to Brad Hodge and others, was born in the wrong state.

Voges plays for the same state as Marsh, no? But I won't let facts in the way of conspiracy theories.

Marsh has a handy surname too. Voges doesn't.
