Finally the management have opted to start a rebuilding process. So a shift in selection policy. It is weird though that the careers are ended before even one of their best available players have neared retirement.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/con ... 16277.htmlThe ECB said in a statement that the decision had been unanimous among the England management, adding that "now was the time to start the rebuilding process" after the disappointment of being whitewashed in Australia.
"Clearly this was a tough decision because Kevin has been such an outstanding player for England as the fact that he is the country's leading run scorer in international cricket demonstrates," Downton said.
KP:
"I want to thank everyone for their fantastic support and I wish the team the very best of success going forward. I believe I have a great deal still to give as a cricketer. I will continue to play but deeply regret that it won't be for England."
IMO the management has wasted a above average player, but not great when compared to the worlds best batters (Sachin,Lara,Ponting,Rahul,Kallis,Clarke,Amla and others of those class).Having said that he is one of England's great player imo.
ECB's loss is IPL's gain. Now we have KP for entire IPL season.

He and Monty are the two most appreciated cricketers in India . So he will enjoy playing cricket while earning millions for each next few years and that too in a country where he has more fans than he has in England. We will see how Indian fans and IPL franchisees appreciate his skills as compared to that he faced by ECB and criticism from England fans. Good for him as well as England cricket that this discussion happened a week before IPL auctions .
