Like him being our highest run scorer in the Ashes?

Yes, a marvellous performance made even better by how he crafted each of his innings to meet the needs of the situation.

So Pietersen's not been picked? Good.

Oh dear. England sack KP and release a press release with the usual PR b0llocks but doesn't make it many clearer exactly why he must go and must go now. What has happened in Australia that means he must go now?

So, The KP Solution has again resulted in the sacking of the coach and Pietersen himself?

Ah, who doesn't love a soap opera?

I don't read twitter, but I got these from a friend. You think that Piers Morgan is a fan of Pietersen, and that he is a little peeved at the ECB?

Lovable Piers wrote:‘Kevin Pietersen’s England future apparently being decided right now. He’s just 33, best batsman we have, and was highest Ashes run-scorer.

‘If these @KP24 rumours are true, then I expect every English sports fan to rise up in fury at his gutless assassins.

‘Our greatest ever batsman, still just 33, made scapegoat for an Ashes debacle in which HE was top run-scorer??? Absolute disgrace.

‘I can confirm Kevin Pietersen has been SACKED by the pathetic, spineless losers at the @ECB. Unbelievable.

‘Paul Downtown’s 1st decision has been the worst in English cricket history. What an utter clown.

‘KP sacked for being England’s highest run-scorer in all competitions, and highest run-scorer in Ashes debacle. SHAMEFUL.

‘What a bunch of utter, cowardly morons.’

‘As for you Alastair Cook – what a repulsive little weasel you’ve turned out to be. Aside from worst ever Ashes tour captain,’

I love his shot at Cook. :lmao

This is SO much better than when the Australian Cricket set up was in disarray. Much more enjoyable.

Cheers for the memories KP

Where you scored a double century against the West Indies at Headingley in 2007, but refused to sign autographs under the Rugby Stand after the match because you had to do some physio.

Finally the management have opted to start a rebuilding process. So a shift in selection policy. It is weird though that the careers are ended before even one of their best available players have neared retirement.

Reference:
http://www.espncricinfo.com/england/con ... 16277.html

The ECB said in a statement that the decision had been unanimous among the England management, adding that "now was the time to start the rebuilding process" after the disappointment of being whitewashed in Australia.

"Clearly this was a tough decision because Kevin has been such an outstanding player for England as the fact that he is the country's leading run scorer in international cricket demonstrates," Downton said.

KP:
"I want to thank everyone for their fantastic support and I wish the team the very best of success going forward. I believe I have a great deal still to give as a cricketer. I will continue to play but deeply regret that it won't be for England."

IMO the management has wasted a above average player, but not great when compared to the worlds best batters (Sachin,Lara,Ponting,Rahul,Kallis,Clarke,Amla and others of those class).Having said that he is one of England's great player imo.

ECB's loss is IPL's gain. Now we have KP for entire IPL season. :joydance He and Monty are the two most appreciated cricketers in India . So he will enjoy playing cricket while earning millions for each next few years and that too in a country where he has more fans than he has in England. We will see how Indian fans and IPL franchisees appreciate his skills as compared to that he faced by ECB and criticism from England fans. Good for him as well as England cricket that this discussion happened a week before IPL auctions .

No one but English cricket is the loser here. Above average batsman can't play many great knocks.
