I don't read twitter, but I got these from a friend. You think that Piers Morgan is a fan of Pietersen, and that he is a little peeved at the ECB?

...ECB's loss is IPL's gain.Now we have KP for entire IPL season. He and Monty are the two most appreciated cricketers in India . So he will enjoy playing cricket while earning millions for each next few years and that too in a country where he has more fans than he has in England.We will see how Indian fans and IPL franchisees appreciate his skills as compared to that he faced by ECB and criticism from England fans. Good for him as well as England cricket that this discussion happened a week before IPL auctions .

I'd prefer to see it as England's gain as well as the IPL's gain (moot point). Pietersen became too "high maintenance" to justify his performances quite some time ago.

Happy to see him go to the IPL, which I never watch. Pietersen and the IPL seem made for each other.

Is it just me, or does KP seem to be treating all this furore with more than a little restraint, and some measure of acceptance?

I'm sure that he really is bothered about the end of his England career, but the cynic in me wonders whether he is simply far too busy interviewing ghost writers for the best selling autobiography of 2014, to react.

The ECB might have forced an abrupt full stop on Kevin Pietersen's international career. However, factors such as supreme talent, complete availability, match-winner status, a polished and suave speaker, franchises claim make Pietersen potentially one of the most attractive buys at the player auction.

Pietersen had made a grand entry into the IPL. Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him at the auction for the then record price of $1.55m, making him the joint-richest player in the IPL along with his former England team-mate Andrew Flintoff, who was bought at the same price by Chennai Super Kings. Pietersen played just six matches in his first year, but he was handed the captaincy immediately. He returned in 2010 to play seven matches at the back-end of the tournament and was instrumental in Royal Challengers finishing third.

Although franchise officials remain tightlipped about whether the former England captain might fetch over the $2 million Daredevils paid him, they are certain more than one team will be interested in him. Currently, Daredevils, Kings XI Punjab and Sunrisers Hyderabad have vacancies and are likely to chase big-name players like Pietersen who could be part of the team's nucleus even if he does not get picked as a captain.

Sacked England batsman Kevin Pietersen was the author of his own downfall as he felt that he deserved the sort of status bestowed upon the likes of legends like India's Sachin Tendulkar and West Indies' Brian Lara, according to a report.

Stating that Pietersen felt he deserved the same god-like status accorded to the likes of Lara and Sachin, the report however, said that during the Ashes winter Pietersen 'overplayed his hand' as there were very few runs to back up the behaviour, which ultimately lead to this acrimonious split from the team.

But very amusing and who knows? Rudolph got back into the South African team very soon after returning and having qualified to play for England.

They'd be mad to select him though.
