Not very endearing to the fans though.

I can't believe Beckham was ever fluent in Italian, he can barely speak English!

Yes he should. 100% the correct decision. It was then, and still is now.

You are right and wrong, it turned out to be a good decision...but no-one was asking for him to go, he certainly didn't "deserve" to be sacked.

Not sure if im unhappy with him or not. With the constant behind the scenes nonsense, I guess its hard to blame him.

It's very much against my usual nature, but he can go stuff it for all I care. He'd be nothing in this country without us.

Would rather he'd said nothing at all to be honest.

I tend to agree, but you can't help but think he would of stayed if Cortese did.

What's all this hate for Pochettino? He did a great job with Southampton and is moving to a bigger club so what's the problem...?

They aren't a "bigger" club though. Its a sideways move.

I've had two near identical texts from fellow Saints fans in the past hour.

People can't have things both ways. If the media, neutral fans etc, are going to criticise clubs for sacking managers without "giving them a chance", then they can't expect fans of those clubs to be happy when managers walk out after less than 18 months. Especially when it's that short period that has got the guy his new job.

Obviously Southampton have the potential to be a good side (i.e. Europa League) but you're definitely not on the same level as Tottenham who regularly make Europe each season. He'll have lots of money to spend there and would have a realistic chance of top 4 which probably wouldn't happen at Southampton.

They sell their best players, sack the manager every season, have a director of football who dictates the transfers.

poch said he didn't want Saints in the Europa League because "its nothing but a distraction", so with all that in mind, how is it a step up ??

Yeah, Pochettino going on record this season to display his dislike for the Europa League could make things interesting next season.

And whilst Spurs do obviously have a better chance of the top four than we do, they still have a right old battle on their hands. Man Utd will presumably come back hard next season. Liverpool will have Champions League money in the back pocket. Chelsea will no doubt be even stronger now that Jose's first season back is out of the way. City are City.

As I say, with Levy in charge, there is simply no chance of Poch seeing out his five year contract. It backfired on Hoddle, and it will backfire on Poch. But at least with Hoddle, his was leaving to join "his" club.

Then if you look into the Tottenham squad :

0 in Englands WC squad.

Lloris,Vertonghen,Paulinho,Bentaleb,Chadli and Dembele are the players going, compared to Lambert,Lallana,Shaw,Ramirez,Lovren and Yoshida from Saints.

Lamela,Soldado and Holtby all play for nations that have qualified and haven't been selected.
