Lukaku coming on in the second half made all the difference for Belgium....
:salute
In tomorrow's semis, I pick France to finally beat Germany, and Colombia to edge Brazil....I will finally get one right yet!

The only game in the Quarters Id predict is Holland to beat Costa Rica, who looked tired against Greece.

I expect Germany to beat France

Argentina and Brazil should win, but neither team are firing yet....

Whenever I think of France v Germany I think of that horrific incident by the German keeper in 82 that almost killed the French player.

Would be an automatic sending off these days. Ref didn't even give a foul.

I think of should have been a red even then. Bad reffing to say the least.

As Schumacher won the ball, the ref probably assumed it was an honest collision. Its only really when you see Schumacher win the ball then jump into him, that you realise its on purpose.

Incredibly that Germany took him to a World Cup after, and played him the next match.

OK, back from a little stint in the city of angels where the highlight was the Endeavor space shuttle, and we are down to the last 8. Only one CONCACAF team left in, but still a great effort from all four teams especially the tackling of Honduras, but what about Tim Howard. :clap

There are 11 players on the pitch and he proved just how important the goalie was. USA should have won the match at the death of normal time and that will most likely haunt that player for a good couple of days.

What do you call a girl between two posts on a soccer field............Annette.

My money's still on Australia somehow getting back into this thing with all the match fixing that has been going on. If they do come back I wouldn't slot them in until the finals, and maybe the second half with a 3 to 4 goal lead. That should do it.

If the sort of media was around then that we have now, Schumacher would probably have got a Suarez style ban.

What ever happened to the French player? I remember at the time he was having difficulty breathing.

Still can't believe neither the lines man or the ref didn't see it. Actually I'm certain one of them if not both did, but chose to do nothing. Even live it was unbelievable what took place. I remember the ball dribbling towards goal ever so slowly, but you had already had ample time to see what took place when Shuie did his number.

Just watched a replay of it and you can see the ref in the background with a clear view of the incident.

Wow I just read that Battison still has a cracked vertebrae from the incident and that at the time he slipped into a coma.

I never liked their goalie even before that incident. Hated him even more after it.

I think soon after he was voted the most hated man in France just ahead of Adolf Hitler.
