This is the worst bit of refreeing I've ever seen. Would be shameful if Brazil win this otherwise brilliant World Cup.

He wasn't the last man...there was a defender alongside him. A yellow is right....

James scores the penalty...he created the opportunity, and deserved the goal.
:clap
shanky, Cuadrado shoulder-charged Neymar, so if Fernandinho deserved a card, then so did Cuadrado....as it is, both got off, and I prefer it that way. We can't have a massive dishing out of cards a la Howard Webb.

In any case, you're comparing apples and oranges. I was talking about goals and you're talking about cards...totally different issues.

Goals are black and white, while there's a lot of grey where cards are concerned....

That goal was definitely not black and white.

Anyways,

if the ref had seen that, it should've been a straight red.

:hmmm

Fernandinho was guilty of several offences btw, not just 1 unlike Cuadrado.

Brazil go through. Shameful result. I'm livid. Anyways, no Silva or Neymar in the semis. C'monnn Germany!

Should have been at least 4 red cards in that game. Fernandinho, Paulinho, Cesar and Zuniga.

One of the worst officiating displays i've ever seen.

Absolutely. And thats 3 Brazilians to 1 Colombian. Of course some Brazilian fans on this board think only Zuniga deserved it. ;)

T'was bad reffing, though the keeper getting a yellow was correct, no matter what powelly says, it does matter if he wasn't the last man.

James Rodriguez in tears....

6 goals and 4 assists and goes out after having lumps kicked out of him all evening with no protection and getting booked for a harmless tackle while other far more dangerous tackles were treated with alarming leniency. Just a sad, sad way to go out of the tournament. :(

Class gesture from David Luiz by the way, hugging an inconsolable James and exchanging shirts.. Definitely the saving race in the Brazil side :salute

Quite ironic that this mockery of refreeing happened on FIFA's day against discrimination too.

What Zuniga did was ten times worse than what Suarez did. Didn't you even watch the tackle? It was life-threatening.
:facepalm
Here, let me educate you....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28173132

"Brazil forward Neymar has been ruled out of the World Cup with a broken bone in his back sustained in the 2-1 quarter-final win over Colombia. He fractured a vertebra in his spine when kneed in the back by Juan Zuniga in a challenge that went unpunished."

What Zuniga did was no accident...if Suarez can get four months for a mere bite, the book should be thrown at Zuniga for this. Talking about "one Colombian vs four Brazilians" is absolutely ridiculous - what Fernandinho and Cesar did bears no comparison to what Zuniga did.

That's why I have eyes only for Zuniga right now....

If you can't see that, then that tells me all I need to know about some football fans, newbies or not.

No real loss to Brazil, he was pretty ineffective in last nights game.

As for the challenge, a bit clumsy, eyes were on the ball, unfortunate outcome, it happens.

As for comparing it to the Suarez challenge, you're clearly having a laugh.

Shame about Neymar.

Brazil are in the semis but not by playing the football of old. I think they'll have enough to beat Germany though.

Not at all...Zuniga clearly jumped when he didn't have to, and put his knee in Neymar's back.

During the commentary, Andy Townsend rightly said that the tackle was "beyond belief", and that Zuniga was "trying to leave a bit on him there".

So, if Townsend can recognise it was a deliberate foul, then it beggars belief that so many folks this side of the world watching it are unable to take off their blinkers and see it too....

If Zuniga was Brazilian, we'd be hearing a different tune being sung on this MB.
And before shanky starts trying to pump me for my views again, since they are apparently so important, let me remind him that I picked Colombia to win this match before it started. The difference is that this time around, Brazil played Colombia the way Holland played Brazil in the South Africa World Cup four years ago...and nobody had any problems with the way the Dutch played then, until they tried the same tactics against Spain, and that's when all the outrage broke loose.
