International Football thread

The beautiful game!

Taylor was a bit unlucky in that we didn't have Shearer for much of the qualifying, add to that Koeman should have gone in the game in Holland. In the England - Holland match, in England, Bergkamp scored one of his best. A real classy goal.

Thanks Aidan.

Barnes' free-kick was a good one.

Something else I heard this morning - The FA are considering moving England games away from Wembley so that an NFL franchise can play there.

The possibility of a London NFL franchise has been a long debate in the USA, who view having to grow the game outside of USA as an important factor in the growth of the sport.

Tbf though, a lot of US journo's and fans simply don't want it to happen, so I doubt it is even a distinct possibility.

Talk is the Jags may be the franchise to move to Wembley, think they played as the home team their last season for one of their games. They are a relatively new franchise when compared to others but in recent years with poor results and falling attendances it has been thought the franchise could move. Why not London?

Recent chat is for a premiership game to come to the States in the not too distant future. Apparently the premiership has never been so popular with record numbers subscribing to the tv broadcasts so next stage I guess is a match going out then two ................ then a club locates out there possibly, bit like the NFL.

This is crazy. You knew where you stood with Wednesdays and Saturdays. Now it just seems any day will do.

I'd thought it was to satisfy Premier League managers to allow their international stars time to prepare for their forthcoming league fixture after the last international match.

Looking forward to Sunday though:

3pm: Barnsley v Bradford
5pm: Estonia v England

That is what you call a Super Sunday
