exactly , some people are getting too hung up about their hatred for KP and failing to see the bigger picture

Hatred, where does that come from. I haven't seen it from anyone on here. Perhaps rich you could list those who you believe hate KP. Personally I don't even dislike Pietersen and of all the players who've played for England recently I'd imagine an evening out with him would be very enjoyable. With the obvious provision that Piers Morgan and John Terry were not invited.

I was on the fence regarding KP, but this book has lent me towards thinking he's a bit of a whinger. Of course the ECB, Swann and Prior don't come out of it to well either.

No doubt there is whinging in some aspects as KP expects a very ideal job environment especially regarding being away from family. Lot of people from other professions (Sailors who sail for 6 months or more, individuals working abroad alone for as long as 2 years until they get vacation, etc) will debate that they have worse jobs as compared to what cricketer professionals have regarding staying away from family. He has to accept it and face it as it is not that England cricketers do not get to see there dear ones for years and years. However, ECB should consider at times that families of cricketers be allowed in case the FTP is such that cricketers cannot meet the family for long. What was the longest time period in continuity that England cricketers stayed away from family?

However, the worrying part is the bullying culture prevailing in England team which is also acknowledged by Steve Harmission. As per Harmisson it is tough to beleive that KP was at receiving end. We are not concerned from which England player had to face it, but rather whether bullying existed or not. The messenger may be wrong because he himself was not correct all the time but the message is what ECB and fans have to look at. Cook has to go because he was aware of the bullying and he did nothing to stamp it out nor did he escalate it to the management if it was not in his control.

He's been worth reading on this. The mention Matt made about an old article by Paul Newman where he said it was reasonable KP should have had a break during the tour of WI (09) was a fantastic grab.

It wasn't easy being KP in the summer of 2012, with the fake KP twitter account going around the dressing room, and anything and everything communicated to the ECB ending up in the press, from comments about team mates to contract discussions. Pietersen was feeling that Strauss and Flower were trying to manoeuvre him towards the exit. So when the text story hit the press, this was an opportunity for his enemies to take aim.

'There were no text messages. I'd been using Blackberry Messenger- BBM- to communicate with my friends. Who started it? I've no idea: it was just part of a rolling conversation I've had with my friends for years.

"When I scored the 149 against South Africa one of the players messaged me that night. The teams had been at war with each other out there, but he sent me a message to say well played, well done, outstanding buddy- brilliant knock.

'And he asked me what was Andrew Strauss's problem? After the game we'd briefly been chatting together and Strauss walked past. He totally ignored the both of us. Made a point of it.

'In this message he used the Afrikaans word doos to describe how Straussy had behaved. I suppose the closest translation would be 'd**k' or 'idiot'. To be absolutely clear, contrary to what some journalists have written a doos is not a c***. It's nothing close to that. I say it in front of my mum and don't get into trouble... any person who actually speaks Afrikaans will tell you that.

'Anyway, I didn't disagree with the sentiment. It was a private message between mates letting off steam. Nobody writes a BBM expecting it to be analysed by millions of people. It was just chatter...

'It suited the ECB to use the messages as evidence of my open assault against Straussy. Strauss has written that he never entirely trusted me after that point. I find that disappointing as he seemed genuinely to accept my apology at the time.'

Kevin also says Prior rang him because Flower asked him as he thought KP and Cheese were close friends...

In a world where Jennifer Lawrence's private parts can be found by entering 3 words on google, the above post does make me wonder about the possibility that some information doesn't come from the ECB, and that a BBM message could be intercepted by even a 4 year old "first time hacker".

From the Urban Dictionary

Doos
Pronouced ( D OE S)

This is the South African word for a c***or pussy.
1 - That girl had such a tight doos.

2 - That guy causing trouble there is such a doos.

So much for Pietersen's translation. Economical with the truth again, seems he can't help himself.

So, textgate primer.

There was no textgate. It could have been closed down as easily as the fake twitter story. The ECB killed one story and highlighted the other with a fluorescent pink marker. Even though the texts were private and the twitter was public.

There was no tactical information about how to get Strauss out. Everyone knew how to do that.

Pietersen was guilty of transgressing a team policy of not speaking to the opposition. Strauss embarrassed KP by pulling him away from talking to them.

Flower told the England players not to communicate with Kevin.

The ECB asked for KP's phone so they could search for deleted messages.

In Kevin's words:

'Pro sports people *modded* to each other about everything. We *modded* about the bloke we have just been bitching to. We *modded* about each other. We *modded* about the bitching in the dressing room'...

'I told the ECB that if they wanted my phone they should get everybody's phones and put everything out there. Can we have Andy Flower's phone to see the *modded* he has been saying about me in the last six months? Or Stuart Broad's phone? I'll give my phone if you take all the other guys' phones. We'll publish everything. And then we'll all go and get counselling.'

Thanks to Arusha in the Guardian.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-eng ... 38373.html

Graeme Swann in India 2011.

There has been a lot of talk about England's on-field behaviour in the five-match series, especially after MS Dhoni claimed some of our sledging was over the top and we were arguing among ourselves. I'd probably plead guilty to the second charge because I am one of the worst culprits.

http://www.theguardian.com/sport/2011/o ... -behaviour

And from Andy Flower in 2011.

I've heard about it from various sources. It's just another little, niggly incident none of us really want to see. We'll ensure these incidents are stamped out

BBM is meant to be unhackable?

In the urban dictionary definitions is it not possible that in the second sentence that doos could be interchangeable with idiot?
