Back to cricket. Wasn't KP a spinning all-rounder when he first came to England? Most if not all great batsmen started off as batsmen, but not him by all accounts.

But athers was never a great batsman. Didn't KP bat at nine for his saffa side?

He did, but he was good enough to be batting in the middle order when he turned up in England. In his first full season in England he averaged 57 with the bat.

Was that at Notts? They obviously saw something that the his south african side missed.

It was, he played his first match for Warks, scored 92 but they didn't sign him. Notts picked him up and he promptly averaged over 50 from his first game to his England debut.

KP had attributed his improved being over that time to his spell at Cannock where he didn't get to bowl much.
