Rohit is as soft as a tissue paper under pressure

Since 2013, he has averaged 55 at 86SR...... clearly terrible

Did you miss the words "under pressure"? He had a reasonable group stage in the 2013 CT only for some soft dismissals in the knock outs. Likewise in the 2014 World T20. Even in the IPL, he has rarely performed in knock out games. And even if you just look at ODIs in general, his record away from home isn't too hot (except WI), the hundred in the first game of this tri series, which is arguably his best innings in an India shirt yet, notwithstanding. Having said all that, I agree that he is by far, the 3rd best batsman in the side and we have missed him badly in this series and need him back fit asap to have any chance. Not sure who that says more of though.

Also doesn't the same apply to australia, nz sa can they win 3 games in a row. People seem to forget one defeat can knock a team out.
India has too many flaws to be favorites or have pretty easy run to final or semis but I highly doubt they would lose easily in quarters or semis and if they win crucial games and other result go their way they could reach a final. Weird things happen in World Cups no one would have predicted India would win 83, Sri Lanka 96, india to reach 2003 final, SA to lose against nz in 2011 their only real choke although the 03 rain confusion was funny.
If the best teams always goes far then nz would never make the semis 5 times, Sa would have won a knockout game by now.

And Australia in 1987.

Or Greece in the 2004 euros.

Of course anything can happen. Even England may get to the final, you never know, but you've got to weigh up the probables.

Never said it was certain that India will reach final or semis all I said I doubt India would lose easily in the knockout games and who ever faces India will get a tough game.
It only takes few good games to win a World Cup and one terrible game to be out.

Which was my original point. After Australia, deep down teams don't want to play India more than anyone else.

I think the only team people really want to face is West Indies/Ireland.
Pakistan can be iffy not sure they can win the World Cup but they can easily knock out a big team in the quarters not gonna lie I don't really know what to expect from them since they played so little lately or in nz/aus conditions if they win a knockout game the World Cup is wide open since they predicted to face either aus or nz in quarter finals.

Apart from those 2 all the other teams have to be avoided group A are lucky though since they got 25 percent chance of getting Wi or Ireland.

More than SA? Choking aside, almost each and every player in their side is better than each Indian player, except Kohli and MSD.

So India are less favorites now than England for WC :hmmm Let our one player get in form (Virat) and he will suddenly change the whole equation.
Test FL's - 8 , ODI and Tests Combo FL's - 1, ODI World Cup - 1, ODI FL's - 7, ODI and T20i combo FL's - 1 ,
T20 Franchisee FL's - 7, T20i Cup FL's- 1, T20 FL's- 5 , 50 Overs Domestic FL's - 1, 40 Overs Domestic FL's- 1

David Miller has been poor, its only series vs Windies when the top order shredded the bowlers about, and Zimbabwe records, that make his career level acceptable.

Duminy averages amazingly vs associate minnow teams and Zimbabwe..... take that away, I doubt his record is that good.

Roussow hasn't proved much, averages 28

De Plessis has a horror tour of Aus in the last ODI series he played, and is another who's record vs Zimbabwe I think props up his stats considerably.

De Kock is a boom or bust guy who seems to smash a 100 or get out cheaply, if it isn't his day he doesn't factor.

If you limit ABDV and Amla's impact on the game, the rest are very vulnerable.

As opposed to India?

And you seem to be constantly forgetting (like in your post about NZ) that there is something.called bowlers as well.

For what its.worth "Boom or Bust" De Kock has 1 less ODI hundred than "world class" Rohit Sharma in about a fifth of the matches and his tons have come in conditions closer to what you'll get at the WC.

If we're doing selective stats with SA batsmen, how about looking at Raina's record outside the subcontinent? Or Dhawan's record overseas.since the Champions Trophy? Or Rahane's ODI record in general? Or Rohit's record away from home (excl.WI)
