Seems as if the new ECB salary cap has put a block in the path of Surrey resigning KP. Now that's an awfully large measure to take to put one over on KP.

Not sure about that, particularly when Surrey have a wealthy benefactor who could pay KPs wages to get round the salary cap.

That way his salary his split into 3 divisions with the "smallest" wage going on the players books.

There's a bit in a Woody Allen film when he is unexpectedly single so he rings up some old dates. He gets through to the mother of of one and says something like 'She said never to give me me her phone number? But it's been ten years... When did she tell you this? Oh, today'.

Which is essentially England's stance on KP. They so don't want him back that they repeat this at every opportunity. KP even trying to get back in the side would be pointless and undignified, however much he wants to play for England. And with the salary cap, it's not that likely he's going to find a county.

I don't understand why so many are so persistent in finding KP at fault in this regard when there's nothing he can do about it. He was sacked, yet somehow he has to be blamed for not really wanting to play.

Yes, because it proves KP is a man of his word and wants to return to international cricket. Scoring 1200+ runs before The Ashes begins and KP will garner a lot of support, putting the ECB under huge pressure.

he wasn't dropped for cricketing reasons

he wasn't told "we don't think you are playing well enough so go back to county cricket and score some runs", he was told he will never play for England again, so doing what you suggest would just be cutting off his nose to spite his face , he would be giving up money and a few weeks holiday in st lucia for no reason

By a previous regime, with changes in personnel made or are continuing to be made. Even KP has said an England return is possible if Giles Clarke leaves his post, which is about to happen.

Making statement of an England return, wanting to be in Eoin Morgan's World Cup squad but decides to play another T20 tournament during the English Domestic season doesn't put KP in a good light either and proves the ECB they are right with their decision to permanently omit KP.
