early days yet.

certainly the idea of 3 day cricket and such like would be less than desirable, imo, but that it is even being considered demonstrates a willingness to thoroughly examine all possibilities, rather than the usual fiddling around the edges, whilst bowing and scraping, with cap in hand and much forelock tugging, to Sky.

Lets see what concrete proposals come out of it. Dobells article has a whiff of scaremongering to me.

My thoughts exactly Footman, it wasn't long ago there was talk of expanding the number of county teams.

Only way I can see a 3 day County Championship compeition is if there is a newly created Conference Division acting as a third tier. Say 3 Divisions of 8, the 3rd Division consists of 2 current counties, 3 Minor Counties and 3 Irish Provincinal sides as Ireland are granted test status.

That way no current county gets culled, the County Championship still retains it's competitive edge, two free weeks are created for an additional Twenty20 competition and Ireland becomes a test nation.

3 day games never worked though. Too much rushing about, weather interruptions, declaration bowling.

It wasn't really proper cricket.
