Belated but sincere congratulations GJ on the Aussies deserved WC triumph. Managed to watch the last 10 overs or so. The emotions weren't difficult to understand or empathize with.

Whilst the players rightly took the plaudits I think Lehmann has done a cracking job - no frills, no fuss, just basic top notch cricket.

Lehmann's approach is completely at odds to English ways of coaching. One is now the proud owner of the World Cup, the other was sent packing with their tail between their legs. I wonder if there is a lesson to be learnt?

Cheers, KJ.

I was thinking similar thoughts about Boof myself the other day. It's pretty much been goal after goal since he has taken the reins. I am sure that the fact that he has the liking and respect of the players is a major factor in his success.

of course, I have no data on this assertion.

Won't have been many in Australia, New Zealand and England, given it wasn't on fta.

Australia had all australia games, semis and final on FTA.
NZ fta channel had all nz games FTA.

and as I have discussed with you before this isn't a binary world

people can prefer test cricket over ODIs but still enjoy the world cup , doesn't make them "haters"

i'll ask you a couple of questions.

are you happy with the format of the world cup which lasts 7 weeks and has 42 games before anything meaningful really happens ?

are you happy with the decision to remove associates from the next world cup ?

coz as far as I am aware those are the biggest criticisms most people had of this world cup

Sure, I took that as read. but still, that doesn't test interest in the WC as much as interest in the home team. Figures for other games will have been low. Inevitably. The figures will probably confirm the advantages of fta.

I don't really see different formats as being in competition. Ideally, interest in one format brings audiences to the others. I watched the WC, but I wouldn't call it my primary interest.
