2015 Hampshire Thread

We have won parts of both days so far, but overall both days belong to Sussex.

Clearly if we're to survive then we need to win more than just parts of days over the course of the season, but given this is only game one, I'm content. We can reduce the opposition to 128-5 (without two of our main bowlers), having been asked to bowl. We can put on a solid opening stand against one of the division's best bowlers. We can put on a century partnership for the 8th wicket.

Not enough to win matches, but enough to build a platform on. Just so long as we keep our heads up over the coming weeks.

Agreed, excellent assessment from Brendy. I've read several previews and don't remember any tipping Hampshire for relegation. I'm confident you will do well-hope that's not the kiss of death!

Well it's a lovely day down here at the bowl. Last night was a Foghorn fiesta in Pompey Luke has just edged one to slip and Moo Yard is walking rather slowly to the middle. And he's walking back to the pavilion in a similar fashion. Oh Michael

Great start to this run chase, but still a massively long way to go. I'm not getting excited yet.

14 extras already, to go with the 24 extras they conceded in the first innings (less than 70 overs in total). We conceded just 26 extras in total (almost 200 overs).

Adams leaves one, and is bowled.

As I say, we're still a long way off yet. I can still see that first innings collapse being the difference.

But win or lose, I'm taking a lot of positives out of this game (in the knowledge that we still have Bird and Adams to come).

As I say, I've never got excited with this chase.

Basically half way to the target, so we can rule out a draw tomorrow. In fact, we can probably rule out the game still going on come tea tomorrow.

Those wickets definitely put Sussex into the driving seat. I think I make them 70:30 favourites. But if these two can take us to 250 minimum, then we'll still have Ervine, Berg and Wood to help get the other 130 (or less).

I left just after Mills got Adams. I can't watch Sussex without jinxing them. I'm not going tomorrow by the way. For the neutral it was cricket heaven today.
