This could be the best for England, forcing them to get WI in early. Mind you Cook will no doubt tell his remaining batsmen to hang on for a 250 lead.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Cant see England declaring. Not until lunch anyway. Maybe later if they think the pitch will deteriorate.

Good day for England. Pretty irritating on the eye though, Root apart.

When Root gets 100 he seems to make it a big one.

A good day for us, helped by a brilliant ton from Root.

Buttler batting at 8 is a disgrace.

We haven't got much batting beyond Buttler so it's crucial he helps put on a big stand with Root tomorrow.

Stokes or Ali will be gone by the time the ashes come, imo.

Moeen won't be will he? England don't have a spinner to take his place.

Well if they both score runs and/or take wickets then they'll be in. I like both, I just can't see them both playing long term, unless they open with Ali? No, maybe not!

Maybe a better spinner than Moeen will emerge. And maybe England will lose their nerve with Stokes (developing a genuine all rounder is a big project). At the moment, the former seems less likely than the latter.
