Just feel with Cook if he can get a hundred from somewhere the floodgates might open, as in 2010. He looks in decent shape, just needs a spot of luck.

Trott though. Just go. Now.
Anything can happen with a round ball.

Coz we're going up, and we'll win the cup, for Sussex by the Sea!

Cook batting ok. But against WI on flat wickets isn't where you prove yourself.

Don't know why some are anxious about making changes before the Ashes. If they don't, it'll only happen during the Ashes. Pick your best bet now.

Forgot this started today.

Looks like this is the end for Trott. Too many players behind him (Hales/Lyth) for him to keep them out now, surely. Such a shame, but England need to be ruthless with him

Warwickshire's championship chances could increase with Trott and maybe Bell and Woakes on their way back. Pity about Yorkshire though, if their players are not in the team they could be following that saying "They also serve who only watch and wait"
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Feel sorry for Trott, making an international comeback by being shoehorned into opening the batting is a thankless task and not the way forward for neither player or team.

Just the one of many ECB managerial gaffes on this tour and people responsible for this need to be held accountable.

Trott is a player I would give my right arm to see do well, but, bringing him back as an opener has been a mistake.

Difficult to know why he was opening.

Presume Rashid won't be picked as a back up spinner in future.

I said this before the series.

I don't think anyone can say with any significant confidence that they thought after the last NZ tour, he ever looked like he had the game to play at the very top level. Teams just realised they bowl short to him, or never straighten onto his pads, and that took a lot of his game away from him in scoring runs.

Maybe his depression/stress issues masked an obvious lack of precision in his technique for two years? By 2013, he was struggling to defend his stumps at times, and when he did stick in and score runs it was often like watching teeth being pulled.

Either way, I think its insulting to pick a guy who was prime for a dropping for a long time, and put him in the position of another on form guy. Asking Trott to open is near the top of England's dumb list from 2013 onwards.

Why would you pick a player who has to prove his worth to his team, has had stress issues, and integrate him back into the team in an alien role that he then has to put more time into learning, and with the pitfalls of failure wider? Sums up Moores really
