Yep. Briggs has been carrying the drinks as 12th man today.

And now Ervine falls. Need just over 20 to avoid the follow on, which we should do, but we're going to concede a very large first innings deficit. We can forget about three batting points, and might not even get two.

Infuriating that both gave their wickets away, by getting caught in the deep going for the boundary to get their respective milestones. But still, as you say Budget, we can't rely on just those two.

Fidel Edwards finally arrived then? Bizarre signing if you ask me (which you wont)..... always looked like a spray and pray type quick bowler.

Berg's batting just didn't seem to be up to it, meaning that no.8 is too high for him. And whilst his bowling has been useful so far, it's been no more than that - just useful. And you can't pick someone down at, say, no.10 who's bowling is just 'useful'.

Thankfully away to Yorkshire is arguably the hardest game of the season. So I won't get down at all when defeat is confirmed at some point over the next two days.

Mixture of finding ways to get out, and throwing his wicket away. It's possible that the England talk is leading him to putting himself under pressure, I don't know, only he can answer that.

But he's shown in the past that he can handle attacks better than your Leicester's and your Glamorgan's when we were last in D1, and when we have come up against them in limited overs cricket. He's got first class double hundreds (or thereabouts) at both Headingly and Edgbaston in the past.

Of our two best batsmen, it's usually Carberry who is the one to start the season poorly. This year it's roles reversed, and it's Vince.

As I've said, he's 39 years old. He's not suddenly going to change his way of batting, and no-one can expect him to.

If you don't like that, then hate Jimmy and Benks and White for signing him, playing him, and sending him out there with only one and half overs left. Don't hate Andre. He is what he is, and they damm well know that.

So an innings of two decent partnerships and two mini collapses and more woes for Vince, Smith and Berg.

I guess we have to give Edwards a few games but he looks like he's a mile away from being the next Marshall or Roberts.

It annoys me no end when you see Briggs and Tommo consistently scrap to put 15 or 20 on the board and Adams strolls out and skies it 1st ball.

Does McManus have a hit tomorrow ? is he capable ?
