While it'd be entertaining for KP to stay at Surrey and score a surprising amount of runs as England crash and burn in the Ashes, I don't really see any reason why he shouldn't join the IPL. He's not earning a wage in CC.

he not earning any in the IPL either lol.
he contract worth peanuts and about half goes to agent the other half to tax so he basically only get 25% of the wage and his endorsements in india this year is nothing because he wasn't expected to play or be in india for much of the time.

there is a valid reason why he rejected the ipl this year.

Feels a bit like Graves and Strauss have extended the work of Downton. Was it going to benefit the ECB to bring into even greater focus Pietersen's role as a martyr in the post Ashes backwash? It's stunning how inept the whole outfit looks.

by my calculation Kp get about £51 250 +/ 10% playing IPL this year.
he would have gotten paid more in County cricket.

one reason why English counties players have to ask for stupid amount as the base price.

How are you calculating this?

Surely that's only the case when the player has a contract with a county and pays them compensation?

Assuming it get automatically deducted considering it is a form of pay check.
Although IPL franchise do offer money back in terms of Endorsement deals and just being in india opens tons of sponsorship opportunities.

Remember it was KP sending texts about Strauss that kickstarted the problems, did anyone really expect Strauss to give him a lifeline ??

KP won't be with a county though. I obviously don't know how this works, but I read that whatever money Surrey paid went to a charity.

Yep, we all know what Strauss thought of KP last year.

Shame Strauss couldn't put his differences aside for the good of the team but this was to be expected i guess.

Did anyone expect Strauss to put cricket before personal politics on his first day as part of the management? Not really.

It is impossible these days to expect any of the ECB to act in a professional manner rather than just slinging, "But he did it first" like the school children they are.

Good of what team ?? They'd have to re-build a team that want to play with KP. Cook,Broad and Anderson certainly wouldn't, and I wouldn't be surprised if others don't like him either.

basically I got £205,000 figure from here.
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/cricket/k ... ay-5174718

Scyld berry mentions ages ago KP pays 50% to his agent on any IPL deal, and then probably another 50% on Taxes, so with that figure kp is really left with small amount of earning making it easier for him to skip IPL this year.

so 25% 205 is about 50,000 K if he played the whole IPL +/- 10% since I don't really know how much he pays tax.

Yeah the compensation is usually the wage which is why players need to earn more then their wage, but when you consider tax and even agent fees players need to earn quite a bit.
