The enigma that is Kevin Pietersen

What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

The problem could have gone away, should have gone away, and still can go away should the ECB simply do the right thing.

I think people who think that KP is the reason for discontent are wrong. This angry reaction from people, myself included, is at the utterly moronic dealings of the ECB. It could be anyone, any player, any issue that is in the middle of this debate, what is unshaking unacceptable is how poorly the ECB are acting to the paying public and to people in the team.

The ECB would not exist without us paying fans, that should be the number one consideration in the constitutional basis of cricket in this country. Instead, people in the setup have hijacked this team for their own benefit, and are treating us like morons. There is no faith left in the ECB, and every single opportunity they have, and they have had several opportunities, they have further complicated the issues in sight of them. Lets do the right thing now. No more of this vague, non committal nonsense that simply acts as a smoke screen.

A full apology for leaks to the press, and from all involved will go a long way to heal this situation. An apology to the WICB for insulting them would take it a step further. An apology from the captain of the team for his self serving, counter intuitive nonsense would give me more faith in Cook. An apology for the dire performance, or even an acknowledgement of the dire performance in recent series and World Cup, would at the very least engrain some accountability into the side and renew some faith.

As a cricket fan, I am no longer going to accept that the ECB can act like this, the captain and director, the Chief Executive and Managing Director..... everyone!

I can take losing, I supported Brighton religiously when they were bankrupt and at the foot off the football league, and remained positive to the end.... what I cannot take is supporting a team that has given up positively engaging with their fans, and who act like they couldn't even give a toss

I wonder if any self respecting coach would want the job seeing what has gone on with the ECB lately.

I imagine the word trust is being used because it is HR language. A breach of trust can constitute gross misconduct therefore they see themselves as in the right.

They have never been further wrong, the have lost the trust of the supporters. Or at least some of them.

The ECB had the contract under my nose ready to sign until I said "Is it too late to recall Nick Knight?"

In my local pub last night they had a comedian on. Here is a transcript of the start of his act...

Compere:"Now it's time to welcome our local comedian...Terry Fox - he thinks outside the box".

(Audience cheers as Terry takes the stage)

Terry: "Why did Andrew Strauss cross the road?"

Audience: "I don't know Terry. Why did Andrew Strauss cross the road?"

Terry: "To get to the other side because he saw KP ahead and didn't want any confrontation".

(Audience roars with laughter)

....anyway you get the idea with that.

Yes, that is certainly very strange.

At the time when Graves made those comments, no-one envisaged the ECB continuing to make personnel changes they did, least of all Andrew Strauss.

If anything, Graves has been undermined by the establishment before starting his new role.

But he wasn't in a position to make such comments when he did because he hadn't started his new role. If it was a personal opinion he would have to be pretty naive to not realise it wouldn't be misinterpreted. And I doubt with his c.v. that he is naive.

Double standards, again.

Yep neither should be airing their laundry, but on this occasion Strauss has thrown the first piece over the line and he's the one in the authoritative position.

I'm trying to think of an incident in the Australian camp when it's happened. I guess the Laura Bingle affair involving Clarke wasn't great, although there were nude photos involved which is always a good thing. Perhaps we need some nude photos of Strauss and Pietersen walking on a South African beach together.

The Kim Hughes affair could do without being mentioned.
