Yep it's all about 263, you can't see us doing it with the way our bowling has performed so far this season, but you never know.

I guess we're too early in the season to start thinking about setting something up, should tomorrow get washed out (a Middlesex declaration followed by us forfeiting our second innings would be a simple option, setting Middlesex just over 300 to win on the last day).

We were one wicket away from having a 100 run first innings lead though. And there's not a lot we could do about the weather meaning that there was only one day left to follow.

This has been head and shoulders our best match so far, and thankfully there is still clear room for improvement. From Vince and Wheater in particular.

Edwards has now started to get some wickets. Smith has now started to get some runs. And we passed 400 in our first innings for the first time this season. It's getting better, I'm taking real positives from this. (Que the batting collapse tomorrow where we get rolled over for 110 and Middlesex knock off 170 to win by seven wickets!)

Yes, the bowling was better but that last wicket stand put the kibosh on things.

Hants season, apart from the T20 result, just can't get going, a bit like this thread.

I see Somerset won yesterday, putting us firmly at the bottom. Think we're in line for 10 points in this game so we'll remain bottom after today, and played a game more than some, terrific.

Well that was crap.

Can't see Hants doing much in any format this season.

Carberry is a superb ground fielder but for some reason he can't catch.

*Well FMB thats harsh on Carb's , he did really well to get to the only chance that came his way and it only popped out as he hit the ground.

A thoroughly dispiriting Evening though , having dominated the first 34 overs we just fell apart in the last 6 , not in any little way to Vincey inexplicably changing ends for one over each for Woody and Briggs which allowed the bunch of Kents to gain momentum .

But the real issue for me was the Hampshire member sat behind me who decided that Fidel would probably bowl better "with coconuts" !!!!!!!!!!! , more disapointing was I had to run the gauntlet of the others around for telling me that what he said was "f*cking scaldalous" mainly because I had used the F word.
I was shocked that such lazy racism could be used today , I know the bloke was an "older" member and I know older people have a different view on what is and what is not acceptable (i'm 53 if that helps) but even is morning i'm still in shock that someone could use that sort of term about one of our own players.

You're right Mark, what that guy said was a disgrace. Probably acceptable language 30 years ago but sorry not now, we should have all moved way past that. Sadly alot haven't.

I thought the ball popped out before he hit the ground, hard hands for me, never been the safest pair for some strange reason.
