I think there is a difference between middling it, being caught, and standing your ground and a ball scrapping the floor on a very marginal catch.

How long was he off for? Don't they have something like half an hour (or less) until that delay comes into play?

No. Any time is not carried over to the new days play, that's the rules.

I think where bowlers are concerned each day is a new beginning and time off the field the previous day doesn't count.

I think the question is whether Broad did dispute it exactly. The TV pictures didn't show anything of Broad between Erasmus raising his finger and the review starting. Perhaps the square leg umpire advised Erasmus to go upstairs.

I think the question is whether Broad did dispute it exactly. The TV pictures didn't show anything of Broad between Erasmus raising his finger and the review starting. Perhaps the square leg umpire advised Erasmus to go upstairs.

I think its good umpiring. His gut feeling is he caught it, and so he gives it out. Broad is entitled (as he would have been right) to question if the ball had carried to the fielder, and at that point the umpire goes to tv replays.

the umpire at that point is saying, unless tv is conclusive, you are a goner , based on his initial view and judgement, but I am subject to being corrected by conclusive evidence.
