They keep going on about how good the Lords pitch was for the NZ test but that was before we had a four week heatwave. With all the drainage pipes the recent rain was hardly enough to change the conditions. Leaving a little more grass on might have helped but in this weather not for long.

I don't think it's been a drought. They can water the square. The outfield is very lush, and not dry. Even the square is green. I reckon the pitch isn't like this because there's no choice. It'd be better maybe if the outfield was dry, and there might be some reverse.

The pitch didnt look terrible this morning, but the ironic thing is England are supposed to have bowled ok so far ( I was in meeting from Lunch so missed it) but this pitch has given nothing.

Back to Lords a few years back when draw was the only result?

In a dry spell the water table gets low and watering quickly goes downwards. Grass always looks green from above, but the speed of the outfield doesn't suggest it's in anyway lush.
