Didn't think Hampshire were going to win that one at the interval!

Not sure Hants deserve it but the only way they can fail to get a q-final place is for
Sussex to beat Surrey
Essex to beat Kent
Glamorgan to beat Gloucestershire by a good margin to get nrr above Hants....and by my calcs that's something like get 200 and limit Gloucs to 121.
(150 v 74 etc so something like win by 75-80 runs).

So fairly safe?

It might just be me, but with no McCullum (today is his last match for them, I understand) I don't particularly fear Birmingham. Even though they are the reigning champions. Our limited overs KO record in recent years is excellent. Four times in a decade we've done them over.

It will either be a trip to Birmingham, or a trip to Worcs. Depends on whether or not Essex can beat both the rain and Kent.

.....but lost our last two semi's up there. I'd prefer Worcs. Forecast at Chelmsford looking terrible still, even though it's currently stopped.

He's surely single-handedly secured Essex's qualification. We made 70-odd against Kent the other year, when we had a 5 over thrash.

Interesting that when we're making our way through to the QFs, Dawson is more interested in watching the darts. But when it's Essex making their way through, he's all "boom Essex".

I appreciate that, unless he hears otherwise, Essex are his t20 team for the rest of the season. But he's still a Hampshire contracted player - and might yet play for us later in the competition, or be part of our matchday squad. Could give off the impression that he'd rather we hadn't recalled him from his loan for four day and one day cricket, and that his heart lies away from the club now. Which would be rich, given the number of chances we've given him.

Agree Brendy - saw the tweet last night and thought it was strange. I guess he's feeling a bit betrayed but he's not "bigger than the club" and his performance against Durham on his early recall hardly proved he had been hard done by. So needs to be careful if he's not going to wind up teammates and management. Presumably he is "cup tied" in terms of playing against us in the T20?
Shane to witness Wagg's failure - slightly worry Wheater is in the same boat. Great v Surrey, but how often will he come off with the responsibility of coming in at 3? Not sure what is going on with Adams, but I would still prefer him coming in before Wheater, just to shorten the tail. He can only get out! Thoughts?

I don't follow Twitface but to read that about Daws is really disapointing.

I can't help but think that Benkenstein has an issue with some of the "class of 2010" , Woody hardly gets a look in in anythong other than T20 , Briggs is now not a nail on in the Championship , We know what has happened to Micheal Bates.
it would seem that Daws is heading the same way , this group saw us have unprecedented (for us )one day success that should have continued for the next decade , with a team brought up through our system and it such a bloody waste.

the really frightening thing was that on Friday night was once Shah was out one of my mates said tongue in cheek that we were now into the tail , thinking about it he wasn't far wrong.

surely we need a rethink in the close season and get a new coach who gets Hampshire , a certain S J Warne perhaps ?
