Or Taylor. Likening him to the other tyros is a bit unfair to him, given he already has an international record, and many years of consistently being the Lions stand out player.

Usman Khawaja has expressed his disappointment at missing out on the ODI squad. As much as I like Khawaja, and his List A form is impressive, I just think he needs to keep his head down and continue scoring runs before he gets a recall, because he was rubbish the last time he played in the ODI squad. I'm sure the selectors have him in their thoughts, but they'll be thinking of other players too, and Marcus Stoinis seems to be on of them.

I'm not saying it's what I'd do, I'm saying it's what I think England will do. They're desperate to get Moeen Ali involved as much as possible, which makes Taylor vulnerable, and Bairstow is frankly un-droppable right now, and I don't see who he could replace if not Billings, who had a poor series vs. NZ.

If Moeen Ali comes back in the ODI side, I'd imagine it will be in the place of Roy whose ODI career has not off to the best of starts.

It's getting Bairstow in that is likely to lead to Billings missing out. Bairstow seems to have a lot of supporters .

as harsh as it is i would probably drop jason roy and open with moeen

buttler is our best player after root and has to bat 5, he showed in the t20 for lancs that his form in tests has no bearing on his ability to hit the ball in the limited overs formats

That'd be the consistent selection. I wouldn't mind if they picked that top seven and continued to give them a good run.
