siddle's performance in this test has for me been the perfect example of not making either/or selection decisions in isolation

australia's decision to replace Watson with marsh as the all-rounder left them without that seam bowler who could tie up an end for you and build pressure, the role that Watson did regularly for Clarke but marsh isn't that type of bowler

siddle here has given Clarke that option again and he has done it really well

Thing is who would Siddle have come in for? Starc, Hazlewood and Lyon have took wickets and it would have been a risk to drop Johnson.

Also, worth remembering that Siddle played all 4 tour games and only took 4 wickets.

poor shot to get out to , the straight-ish drive is a shot he plays really well , looked like that might have just held up on him and he got under it

hazlewood has taken wickets but hasn't really bowled very well imo

my point was more with regard to the issues being made before this game about it being a choice between siddle and cummins as well

I really hope they don't open with moeen in the UAE as there is very little chance he will do it for the forsee able future

I would drop bairstow or buttler, bat moeen 5 and use a proper opener

The next cab off the rank is hales I suppose, though I am unsure how he will fair in tests
