Didn't listen this afternoon but in my experience TMS commentary for T20 matches tends to be more about the event rather than the match.

Can anyone explain to me why its only one T20 and five ODI's in every series?

I would rather it was 3 and 3.

I've only recently tuned in again but only recognised the Australian female commentator this afternoon. Seems like they must have the b team out for t20 games.

I've heard Alison Mitchell on TMS quite a bit and she's completely adequate. The Aussie woman who commentates on IPL (I think it might be Mel Jones) did a good job. Isa Guha was fine too. There was one who struggled to work out what she was saying (was that Ebony Rainford Brent?). None of them were Jeremy Coney, but few are.

I think there were so many woman commentators because the women's team was playing at the ground today, and the T20 is intentionally a bit less blokey. I expect the balance will be changed for the ODIs.

I prefer ODIs to T20s, no complaints from me.

I had avoided the score before the highlights which I've now watched.

Great final over from Stokes.... I don't think I've seen him bowl at the very death before. He did it well, although he was definitely the beneficiary of his own terrific catch to send Smith back into the hutch.

Terrible start from Hales and Roy, and they need to sort that out because this team was full of people who can and do open for their counties. Aussies were miles ahead after the PP overs.

Good innings from Morgan, Ali and Smith, but everyone else was a bit off the pace and seemed to struggle to time the ball.

I've not seen Topley bowl before.... how did he do, overall? Difficult to assess from the highlights alone.

Nicholas said Rashid was unlucky that the boundaries were so short, but it seemed to me that he bowled a fair bit of filth too. Chance to get a better look in the ODI series, I suppose.

TBH I wasn't expecting an England win the way Smith and, to a much lesser extent, Maxwell were playing..... especially given Australia's lead after 6 overs, so it was nice to see England force the Aussies into a bit of trouble in the last 5 overs and come away with the result

With sides scoring well over 300 regularly in 50 overs T20 seems redundant to me

topley bowled very well at the death, executed his yorkers better than anyone we have had in a while, probably since Freddie

Be interesting if he can repeat whenever we play a T20 again

Billings caught Smith. It was Stokes catch to dismiss Maxwell off Ali' which really galvanised England.

Both sets of batsmen were guilty of slogging - those that relied on timing, placement use of the feet and wrists faired much better.

Same here I prefer ODI cricket then T20 cricket.

The ODIs will be a good test of our openers and top order generally. It was our biggest weakness in the Ashes.
