He doesn't seem to be very good at rotating the strike which is a key skill batting at 5 in ODIS

As Dan suggests swapping moeen and stokes seems sensible, we are wasting moeens good form

it was very noticeable when taylor got out yesterday that all the quick 1s and 2s we had been getting just dried up and the required rate went up sharpish

still say the most damning statistic about bell in ODIs is that in 161 games, 127 of those batting in the top 3, he only scored 4 centuries

an atrocious conversion rate for someone in that position

lots of 40s and 50s make the average look good but they rarely win you many matches , hundreds do that and that's where he undoubtedly let himself down

Bell will be remembered as a player who should have scored more runs, be it tests or ODI's, given his undoubted quality. Bit like our Mark Waugh, well at least in tests.

just think that in ODIs you are almost always going to have 2 or 3 of your top 6 fail , that means at least one of the others needs to be converting their start into a meaningful innings if you are going to be setting competitive scores or chasing down targets

look at guys like guptill or de kock , arguably nowhere near bell's class but when they get in they make hundreds and that wins games

yeah even if they are being picked to get us off to a fast start they still need to be making big scores as well

I mentioned de kock above and in theory he is being picked for the same role as roy or hales , he has still managed 6 hundreds in just 47 games

Jos getting criticised ,and suggestions from fans that Bairstow should replace him. Though Joseph scored 129 off 70 balls in his last series v NZ. That must be a candidate for one of the best England ODI innings, against a very good attack.
