After I posed the above question I realized it has only one answer, namely YES, because no one else but me could have included Taylor in MY FL team.

Excellent day for England. Cook and Bell ground out runs, Taylor promptly showed that he should have been playing all series and Bairstow started to convince some that he belonged at this level.

The Ali experiment surely must be over, though I would be in favour of giving him a crack in slightly more familiar conditions.

I fabcy it's more likely to be up Samit and Rasid who turn the ball away from right hand batsmen we need to be at their best. Moeen can't rely of wild slogs if Pakistan are bunkering down for a draw.

Some investigation into the management of Taylor since he started for England A would be interesting. Why he's been continually successful for the Lions, and outscored the other batters who have been shuffled ahead of him in both formats, with a fca of nearly 50... but found it so hard to get a chance. Including being dropped after the WC from the ODI side.

They've been talking on the Verdict just now about how much he has played with the Lions, but I don't think there are many secrets about why he's been left out - various people just haven't rated him, the only secret is who exactly. An article I read this evening said that several coaches, no longer working with England, weren't convinced.

I thought Flower didn't rate him. Certainly he and Moores kept him away from their sides.

All his Lions runs, and the way he kept scoring for them, even when seemingly offered little encouragement, has given me quite a lot of confidence that he'll do well.
