Can someone tell why Jos should not bat as opener or one down. He seems to be the only English batsman in history who can score 175+ or 200+ on his day if he bats at top. Why they under utilizing one resource

Same reason De Villiers doesn't open or bat at 3. He's a finisher.

My point is he can be to England what Rohit is to India, what Warner is to Australia as opener. If he can give big hundreds or double ton then why settle for just 120 odd from him.

Having followed matches of this series live due to holidays, i notice that there have been many centuries in this series by England. It is good change, i agree. This is the way ODI cricket in modern era should be played. There is not big deal in scoring 120 in 120 balls. But i like when someone score 116 from 52 or score 264 in one innings. These knocks are not played by normal batsmen. It's talent converted into reality at best. This is something i never saw from England batsman. I remember lot of years back Freddie tonked Anil Kumble and others in some ODI match in India with 105+ but this knock by Jos is best. It is up to the ODI standard of top cricket teams. He has potential to match the best if he given right batting position.
