Arthur Crabtree wrote:Maybe Broad was tarnished a bit by the last WCT20 when he was (I think) captain and was criticised for not bowling himself at the end, and the team was terrible. He didn't have a good fifty over WC. I think England have tried to move on with a new set of players. He's better of resting his heel isn't he?
Since Jan 2014, Broad's econ is 8.48, high even for T20, and as in all limited overs, he stopped taking wickets. From the same point, Plunkett has taken a wicket of every 8 ball, Willey every ten balls (Broad every 18)... Plunkett goes for 6.75 rpo. The numbers of games are small, but surprising that he (and Rankin, though maybe fielding was more of an issue) hasn't been given more of a chance.
On performances, Gurney might have had more of a chance. And it'll be interesting to see if Rankin shows the England selectors up.
