It does feel a bit like he's been running down in the last year. I get the impression he can't play any other way than this now. Great leader, player of great innings, yadda yadda, but it feels like time to go. Once your reputation gets as good as Bren's it's hard for reality to live up to it. But, while I feel it's time, NZ would probably be all out now without him.

im not surprised he is retiring from tests

but would have thought he would at least play in the world t20
