Twatto will finish up in International Cricket at the end of this T20 tournament.

I think he has started to build a place in the hearts of the Aus cricket-watching public.

It was interesting to hear Watson talk about how, while he enjoys being in the side he notices that no one he started out with is still around. Not often something we think about when players ar coming to the end of their careers, but it must have an impact on your enjoyment of the game.

Obviously we've all had a bit of fun a Watson's expense over the years be it his DRS mistakes or his failure to ever really establish himself as a Test player, but he was a fantastic limited overs all rounder over the years.

I'm not sure if it is Watson who has matured, or a general downward trend in the maturity of most around him, but he has definitely grown on me as a player over the years.

Considering at a young age breaking into the team he suffered I believe some form of stress fracture to his back and was out for ages with his career believed to be finished, the fact that Watson made anything of his chances at international level is impressive.

I said at the time, but I will say again.... he showed massive balls in 2009 to offer to jump up to opener after the various disasters Australia had gone through in a short space after several legends retired, or in Ponting's case, hung around being rubbish for a long time. He was never an opener, but he averaged over 40 I believe, and initially he kept on making contributions (wasnt it something like 15 x 50's in two years, but only one hundred). He did a decent enough job at three considering his technical problems. They eventually slowed his career, but with all of his injuries he was never going to be a 100 test match player in his 40's still grinding on.

I actually think had he had much better fitness, he could have been one of his generations best all rounders. When he was fit and bowling well, he was a really great bowler, really asked questions with his accuracy, could get the ball to talk off the pitch with seam and some bounce. Very hard bowler to come up against after you get through the new ball and first change. His bowling record doesnt come close to doing him justice. With the extra fitness and without injuries, there is enough to suggest to me that he would have been a sub 30 averaging bowler comfortably, and enough to carry him into any Australia attack in some form (with his batting) in his time.

Average 41 with SR over 90 with bat.... a Econ rate under 5 with the ball and average hovering over 30...... that is for me enough to cement limited overs legend status for his era. Seriously under-rated ODI player. Good dual record in T20's too.

Probably the most boring Test bowler of all time, with his fifth stump line. But did an effective job for his team. Don't think he delivered on his batting promise in five day cricket, because he carried the threat to really hurt the bowlers, but it happened infrequently, and his running could engender a one man collapse. When times were bad, they were terrible. A superb limited overs player though. Needed to lose some weight. Looked like a rerun of a 1990s player stretched out to fit a modern widescreen tv.

Ben Stokes... Average of 33 with the bat, 38 with the ball..... best thing since Jesus walked on water! Maverick who can win matches on his own.

Shane Watson... Average 35 with the bat, 33 with the ball..... overweight. Bad attitude. Couldnt care less. No technique. Bowled to slow. Failure who didnt deliver.
