we were tied on him, so i guess that makes sense since I seem to lose 100% of these tie-breakers! If Sussex did get him, can you update my google docs spreadsheet to replace Napier with Broom - doesn't make much difference this week as Broom isn't playing anyway

The new system lessened the tie breakers by a huge amount. Next year there will be even less

terrific start so far ... lots of players seem to be missing - I start the season without even being able to get 11 players on the park!

and the Berg injury means my Div 1 FL team is already down as well - all going horribly wrong

I mulled long and hard in the 2nd bidding round over how to get some keepers in my squad, and tried to decide whether Somerset would stick with Barrow behind the stumps or go with the new 19yo Davies. I decided to go with Barrow, because, it seemed to me, if the wicketkeeper slot was a problem to which Barrow wasn't the solution, it made no sense to draft in a youngster instead of trying to pick up a much more experienced keeper from somewhere else. I also figured that if I didn't get Barrow, then I could always bid for Davies in round 3. Unfortunately for me, Ian came up with opposite solution to me and picked Davies up for 10k.

Davies appears to be first choice keeper, rather than the back up to Barrow, which is a bit of a bugger really, and leaves me with just the one keeper in my squad..... unless Davies stuffs up, of course

I was a bit surprised when I saw Berg in your div 1 side, given that he could be out for 10 weeks. Still... in season long FL's it is usual to have players out for sometimes lengthy periods with injury, so it isn't always a disaster if they can come back into the side, later in the season, to boost the final push for glory

It's only a real problem if a player picks up a season ending injury in the first match as happened with Tom Smith last year. Something that derailed both of us

Great start for me, Barker 3 wickets and Ambrose 2 catches but I'm disappointed that I'm a bowler down as Ollie Stone is is a surprise omission.

just checked and apparently he is missing half the season, so pretty much nearly as bad as last year for me
