I've always really disliked Ian Smith. He makes Ian Healy look very non-biased.

I think you expect the Kiwis to be a bit biased. It's not the same as England/Australia/India being biased. But then, I like the NZ team. Smith is a bit much though.

Harsha Bhosle is a commentator who didn't play (internationals anyway).

Nas was fine until he was convinced to see his job as being an advocate for English cricket. Though everyone but Boycott has taken that advice. No one else is as relentlessly panglossian as Hussain though.

I like Bill Lawry a lot, but I find others in the commentary box can bring him down a bit..... it must be hard to commentate with Slats, Warne and Healy sometimes though.

I think that happened at C9 with Benaud. He sounded a bit lonely at times.

Obviously he played at a high level, but I think Coney is a pundit in the style of those who came from a background of journalism.

I bought a book by Tony Cozier in the late seventies, called West Indies, Fifty Years of Test Cricket, which gave me a bit of grounding in the history of cricket in the Caribbean. Particularly the players of their past who often seemed to be poetically named. The openers Stollmeyer and Rae. The spinners, Ramadhin and Valentine. Marty Martindale. Seymour Nurse. Lord Learie Constantine.

I prefer all those to Hussain, whose range of expression is limited and in terms of cheerleading has become the Essex Danny Morrison.

This is my first series without Sky since 2009, so I'm back on the radio and C5. I've not taken any time off work to coincide with the Tests either. So you'll have to go without me slagging Nasser every day.
