Reckon England could struggle against Croatia or Poland, from what I've seen today.

I still shudder every time I hear the name Don Revie.

Foreigners were the Scots and Irish back then.

And there was Revie.

Got a notion Revie picked a side with four centre halfs, but with a full back playing at centre half. Graham Taylor sort of stuff.

Revie set English football back 10 years. Amazing how someone who tried to fix league matches got the job.

Couldn't do any worse, as they say. Played some nice football under Greenwood at times, but clearly a bit dependent on Keegan and Brooking... Bell was a big loss in the late seventies.

Last old git comment I promise. Bonieck was one of those heavy seventies smokers. Managers used to sit on the bench and smoke. Stress and fags are a bad combo.

Haven't all the great moments at major championships been German defeats?

Though I always liked Germany. The Australians of football. Never give up, never back down.

Rummenigge coming on against France...

Fantastic retro German shirts too, and sixties space race haircuts.

Come on Germany!

Cool looking manager too who looks like he was in an indie haircut band.

I admire the German's. A QF in a world cup is deemed a disappointment for them, but is OBE time for us, well nearly.

That said, Schumaker's challenge was one of the worst I've seen.
