Is there a way we can find a place for Rashid in the Test side outside of the sub continent? He's going to have some very good days with the ball, but when he doesn't he'll chip in with good runs. I'd like to see him as a mainstay.

Not unless he can get his bowling up to true Test Match standard - which it really isn't at the moment. I like his tail end run potential too ; but he hasn't yet shown either the control or the penetration to suggest he can be a regular selection. At the moment he is a luxury accessory at best...

Can't see Rashid making it while he bowls 1-2 four balls an over.

Maybe a possibility Mo will keep his top six spot, which would open up a bowling place (if he can play short bowling on quick pitches), but Rashid isn't going to get the confidence of his captain as a bowler.

I wonder about Rashid's county reputation for bowling out the tail, and if it applies to international level, where there (maybe) aren't so many rabbits.

Lead didn't last long. Didn't think it would : these openers like to get on with it and England do not have the type of bowlers to keep a lid on it early (Well they do , in Stokes ; but they don't want to kill him with overuse)

I've always touted for a 'number seven', who contributes with bat and ball, but doesn't quite get in for either, just for their all round potential. What can be dismissed as bits and pieces. But only one in the side. Mo and Stokes both at times have looked like that player, though Stokes maybe would get in just as a bat now. Having two feels to weaken the side though. Maybe Rashid could be that type. A luxury, but potentially a useful one. But currently Mo looks more useful as a 'number seven'.
