This is one of the worse Scotland teams ever.

This could be the worst England team I can remember.

Totally agree, and the manager is probably vying with McClaren for worst boss ever.

Taylor never really had the players, had to start from scratch after 1990, best midfielder was Carlton Palmer (after Gascoigne when he wasn't injured!). McClaren had a lot of top stars that he couldn't handle.

Plus I was a Watford supporter in the eighties so I'm slightly biased. Legend.

Taylor had Platt, Shearer (though he got injured) Wright, but yes, not much else really.

But the defensive players he had access to. Walker as well.

I guess it shows how thin England are at the back now.

He was kind of betwixt and between, alot of ageing players and younger players who would later become more prominent. He was all about work rate and route one, and he tended to pick players who suited that style. Don't think he could handle the big names, a bit like McClaren.

Barnesy could never throw off the shackles when he played for country, always took the easy option, didn't take enough risks or trust in his ability at the top level. One of the best players at club level for Watford and Liverpool I have ever seen. Bottled it a bit when he put on an England shirt.
