Cook showing his class here right now would be a massive wicket.

would have to disagree

seamers bowled mostly too wide, the batsmen just left the ball most of the time

jadeja and ashwin bowled from the wrong ends for ages and were pretty ineffective

when Cook and Hameed were tentative at the start of the innings, India had 3 or 4 fielders on the boundary and gave some really really soft singles that got the batsmen settled

Eng had success with one seamer and one spinner, we keep starting off with 2 seamers and then going to 2 spinners - should mix it up when nothing is happening so that the batters have to keep adjusting between spin and seam every over

we might well still win but we've done a good job of giving the Eng openers the best possible chance of saving the game - tactics have been awful

at least Jadeja and Ashwin are bowling from the right ends now

yeah agree also why isn't the indian bowlers not bowling cutters anymore that is very dangerous in these pitches.
a very poor start and day for india which can bring a possible england victory into play although the good thing is that the chase total is low so if england attack more they may lose wicket in a hurry especially with them have a few easy targets coming up.
india made it closer than it should be.

Cook very very lucky there with that review from India - just about got away with umpires call even though it looked like the ball was hitting leg stump pretty hard

Any particular reason why the bowlers are bowling wide and targeting the rough, not sure Cook or hameed will get out defending from there, need to bowl straight so bowled, lbw, edges and close catches come into play.
can't see many wickets from bowling wide, especially now when england are not going for the runs.

TBH thought it was not out first, looked very high, too much doubt but turned out to be a good shout though.

That close LBW call that was denied is one reason why India hate DRS. Almost half the ball is hitting the stumps and is within a millimeter or so of being out.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Can't see BCCI getting rid of it, DRS at the moment been a success if anything BCCI might get his muscles to increase or change DRS rules on usage.
think they happy with the technology right now but the way DRS is being used might change.

Hats off to Cook and Haseeb for this resistance. Maybe though these are the only two bats who can play this way. How they respond to a wicket will be crucial. Anyway, I thought they would subside quickly, so whatever happens, they deserve praise. Can't remember England playing for a draw this way before, the way that makes sense to me.

Bowlers will get tired/tense/demoralised. But will it get harder to bat tomorrow? What will the new ball do (should they survive the first ball)?

I was wondering why Kohli had the field back too, early on. But at that time it felt India could win however they wanted. Though India still massive favourites, even after this start.
I always say that everybody's right.

Another baffling not out confounds the India captain. DRS in India is in jeopardy.
