dont think anyone has much regard for batty as a bowler at this level
what we are seeing is the end result of shoe-horning someone who isn't good enough at this level into a side just to have 3 spinners, he isn't really needed as a bowler so the captain is obviously going to bowl the guys he thinks are better options
an extra batsman is almost always going to add something to the side as he will be needed to bat, an extra bowler adds very little when you already have 5 other bowlers

It's madness, England should play to their strengths. They are doing what you shouldn't abroad, I remember India trying to play 4 pace bowlers at Perth with Vinay Kumar one of them.
